Specs: The hike is classified as moderate.  We will be climbin g moderate uphill and downhill. The total length of the hike will be a pprox. 5.5 miles long and we will walk at an easy pace. The hike shoul d take about 2.5 hours. As with all hikes you must be in reasonable at hletic shape. Sweeper: If the group size is larger than 10, we are go ing to look for a volunteer to act as a sweeper. Sweepers will walk at the end of the hike line and will make sure the group stays together. Hike Leader: Maren will be leading this hike.  She will not be wai ting for late people. In fairness to those who arrive on time, the hik e will start on time. What to bring: Hiking boots and 2 liters of wat er are required.  Bug spray is highly recommended.  You may also wan t to consider sunblock and a light snack. D irections: Take GSP South or North to exit 117. After the toll booth, keep left onto RT 36 South. Follow RT 36 South for about 12 miles. Mak e a right at the sign that says “Red Bank Scenic Road”. You will a lso see a sign next to it that says “Mt Mitchell Scenic Overlook”. Once you make that right, you will make another immediate right onto Navesink Rd. You will see the parking lot on the left after about 0.5 miles.
