Are you dying to get out but don’t want to the only one out there? Well, you are not alone! Join fellow NJYPers and get those legs moving! We will meet up in the parking lot of the Hartshorne woods and enjoy a relaxing day on the tr ail. We will then meet up for lunch at a nearby place.\n\nSpecs:\nThe hike is classified as moderate.\nThe total length of the hike will be approx. 5 miles long and we will walk at an easy pace.\nThis hike is g ood for beginners that are ok with climbing moderate uphill and downhi ll.\nThe hike should take about 2.5 hours.\nAs with all hikes you must be in reasonable athletic shape.\n\n\n\nMember Cost:\n$5 for the firs t 10 to buy a ticket\n$10 for the next 11-25 to buy a ticket\n$20 at t he door (so please register online)\n\nNon-Member Cost:\n$20 online an d at the door\n\nTickets:\nThere are a limited number of Tickets for s ale.\nTickets are not mailed, but your name will be kept at the door.\ nActual hike is subject to change depending on weather conditions, fal len trees, etc.\nAll sales are final.\n\nSweeper:\nIf the group size i s larger than 10, we are going to look for a volunteer to act as a swe eper. Sweepers will walk at the end of the hike line and will make sur e the group stays together.\n\nHike Leader:\nDavid will be leading thi s hike.\nDavid will not be waiting for late people. In fairness to tho se who arrive on time, the hike will start on time.\n\nWhat to bring:\ nHiking boots are required. Please bring 2 liters of water as well (ye s, it is just as easy to dehydrate in the cold). Please dress in layer s that are not made out of cotton. Cotton, when wet, does not dry and can make you feel much colder. Synthetic fiber outdoor wear is always ideal in all weather conditions and all seasons. Consider bringing a s nack as well as you may get hungry while hiking.\n\nInclement Weather: \nPrecipitation (rain or snow) will cancel this hike. Also, the foreca sted high for the day will have to be above 39 degrees and no standing snow cover on the ground. Please check your inbox for updates and the NJYP.org calendar. Tickets will be refunded.\n\nDirections:\nTake GSP South or North to exit 117. After the toll booth, keep left onto RT 3 6 South. Follow RT 36 South for about 12 miles. Make a right at the si gn that says “Red Bank Scenic Road”. You will also see a sign next to it that says “Mt Mitchell Scenic Overlook”. Once you make that right, you will make another immediate right onto Navesink Rd.
