Almost completely surrounded by water, Sandy Hook is much more tha n one of New Jersey’s most popular beaches. The combination of beach dunes, holly trees, saltwater marshes, coastal defense ruins, a ninet eenth-century fort, and a historic lighthouse make this trip one not t o miss. And as per tradition, the group will go out for local eats pos t-hike. \n\n\nMember Cost: $5 for the first 5\n$10 for the next 6 to 2 5\n$20 at the door\n\nNon-Member Cost:\n$20 online and at the door.\n\ nSpecs:\nThe hike is classified as moderate.\nThe total length of the hike will be about 6 miles long and we will walk at an easy pace. The actual mileage may vary depending on people’s interests.\nThis hike is good for beginners who are in good athletic shape!\nThe hike should take about 4 hours.\n\nSweeper:\nIf the group size is larger than 10, we are going to look for a volunteer to act as a sweeper. Sweepers wi ll walk at the end of the hike line and will make sure the group stays together.\n\nHike Leader:\nKeira will be leading this hike.\nKeira wi ll not be waiting for late people. In fairness to those who arrive on time, she will be starting the hike on time.\n\nWhat to bring:\nHiking boots (recommended) and water (required).\nHiking boots will help kee p the sand out of your feet when hiking as the trail is a mix of hard surface and sandy surface.\nYou may want to bring long pants due to so me poison ivy close to the trail.\nWe will stop for a light lunch / sn ack at the picnic area so we recommend you bring something to eat.\n\n Tickets:\nAll sales are final. Continue through the entrance gate and go north on Hartshorne Drive for approximately 1.8 miles unti l you see a right hand turn for the Seagull’s Nest Restaurant.
