Hi all, let's go snowshoeing! Yes, I'm basically crossing my fingers that this snow lasts long enough or more comes, but I'm thinking either this coming Sunday the 9th or Jan. 22nd or 23rd.

I went a couple times last year and had a blast -- its very easy to learn and way cheaper that skiing or boarding. I know at least one place in NJ that offers it, but can find other options when we get a group together.

Lemme know if you're interested and which date above works!

Cheers,

Debi

I'd give it a try. I can do any of the above dates :)
im interested too and can do any of the dates:)

FYI:  My friend did this last year, and just posted this year's link.  It's a snowshoe charity walk for breast cancer.  The date this year is Jan 22.

Looks like there is an entry fee (varies dep on your reg date), and then they ask that you fundraise, but seems more like a suggested amt, than one required to participate.  As with most of these events, there are prizes/incentives for the amt of $ raised.  Not sure how the entry fee compares to what it might cost elsewhere?

Oooh -- I've heard of Romp to Stomp and wanted to look into it, so thanks for passing the date along! Looks like pre-registration is $35, and day-of registration is $40.

For comparison, the place I went last year charges $19 on weekends.

What do people think -- want to register? My one concern is that if the weather doesn't pan out (this happened last year, a group planned a January day and there was no snow at all yet, so got cancelled), then its prepaid, or if we want til day-of then its a fair amount more.

Does that include snowshoe rental?

I heard you’ll have snowshoe demos, is there a cost to use them?
Tubbs will be on hand with FREE snowshoe demos (first come first serve limited quantities). Although we haven’t had a problem with running out in the past, the event series grows every year and we recommend that you arrive early or bring your own.

Where can I get snowshoes to bring to the event?
You can find snowshoes to purchase or rent at many local outdoor retail stores. Be sure to check out the official snowshoes of the Romp to Stomp online.

(I'm dbl checking w/ my friend to clarify that they have free shoes available based on the above)

Great idea. I've been planning to do this for a while. I'll let you know for sure once the date is finalized. Do you have a place in mind?
I've actually wanted to do this for awhile, hopefully the dates/snow fall cooperate
Hi again, so I did some research and I think found a good option where they do rent the snowshoes. If you're interested, please "friend" me through NJYP and give me a regular email address (I've also invited some non NJYP friends and need to get everyone talking in one spot!). This doesn't require you to commit to it -- and this would be for Jan. 22nd -- I just need to streamline communication. So drop me a line -- and think of the upside to the coming snow!!!
Its still possible to join us -- "friend" me through NJYP and I'll get you in the loop!
