Hi Everyone!!

I'm currently in the market to purchase my first home and I'm looking for suggestions on areas in NJ to look. I'm 32 and I currently teach in South Brunswick, but I am completely okay with moving somewhere within a 40 minute drive from where I am.  Any suggestions you might have would be great!!

My suggestion would be to find areas that have things you like to do nearby. Typically the more urban areas such as New Brunswick, Morristown, Montclair, Hoboken, Jersey City, will have more of a nightlife if the restaurant and bar scene is your thing. I'm not as familiar with areas further south so will leave that to those in the group who know that area better. The areas I mentioned also typically have paces with well known bands and live music at bars, comedy shows, art exhibits, trivia nights, karaoke and recreational sports leagues. If you like hiking, breweries, vineyards, or have other interests there are places with those as well.

I'd say Hoboken or Jersey City (near the waterfront).  That way you can take the Path to NYC and mingle with singles there :)

Jersey City seems to be an up-and-coming place for young professions.  In the school I work at, a few teachers live there, even though the commute is a bit long and probably quite stressful!  Since you work in South Brunswick, I would suggest New Brunswick for a more nearby alternative.
