So August 22nd isn't going to work for me.. but don't let that stop you guys! Here's the canoe rental place I use pretty often: http://www.kittatinny.com/

I had to reschedule due to a bachelor party I forgot was the night before. :/
That is too bad Tony. Not trying to step on Tony’s toes, but I decided to share information that I researched before this event was in the forums. I was planning to go with friends and actually am on August 22.

Some places offer full day rentals for kayaking, usually the ones priced in the $40 range. Those that want to do the full day rentals will get to hop onto islands for a picnic or with some places if you pay a few more dollars they will give you lunch. One lunch happens to be a bbq in the middle of the water!

The distances for some of these places are 1 ½ hours from Edison, or as far as 2 ½ hours. Rates posted are for weekend. Rates are cheaper obviously during the week but only by a few dollars. There may be some group rates too, but group size is subjective by company. You probably need to add tax to the prices and there may be some ancillary fees. There may be coupons on the websites too.

I only included kayaking and tubing and made reference to other things some of thes places have which may include: canoeing, paintball, biking, snowboarding, etc which could be useful for another unofficial event.

Looks like it takes under 3 hours to do 6 miles.

i go a couple times a year to the above and was there about 3 weeks ago. the river moves, but need more rain. bring a lot of beer. they have a campground and bar at their site in barryville, ny

http://www.whitewaterchallengers.com/

i went to the lehigh, pa dam release last year, and this is true rafting - can't drink beer
So are people still interested in this? I was looking forward to having some kayak buddies. I have a kayak and will meet people wherever if we want to do an informal trip. Just let me know so we can plan out the pick up and drop off points (cars etc...) or rentals if you need one.
I think people are still interested but no one has taken the reigns since Tony said he could not do it. I think this could be a future event since lots are interested.
Well.. if it doesn't happen I'll shoot to go out again in the fall to see the foliage.. its actually a really nice trip that time of year (provided you don't fall into the water, that is)
This weekend i'm going with some friends on Saturday to:

http://www.whitewaterchallengers.com/lehigh/lehigh-whitewater.asp

I did it last year and their are about 10 people in my group at the moment.

If you are interested, call Teri 1-800-443-RAFT at their office on Friday and tell her you want to be in this group if their is room:

We also might camp at hickory run state park next door, or my friend john and I have houses out in berwick, PA that we will likely stay at. My cell is 973-445-0238 if you get stuck. I have people coming from northern, nj and bristol, pa if you need a ride. If someone wants to do a motorcycle ride out there, we can do that too.
