Anyone want to go ice skating? I would love to find a weekend time that a group can get together, its been so long since I've done something like that and I miss it! I'm in Union County, I know there's an indoor rink in Bridgewater and an outdoor one in Edison, either of which would be good for me. Interested?

I'm trying to convince my rock climbing partners to come up from Hamilton to Roosevelt Park to go skating. I'll go with you guys if I can't get them to go - keep me posted! There's also an outdoor rink in Rahway (I think...definitely somewhere in Union County, though) if that's closer to where you are.
I'd definately be interested, I haven't been ice skating in years. Either place would work for me. Keep me posted :-)
I love ice skating, so I'd definitely be up for it myself!

Here are the pages for info on the Bridgewater arena
and Edison's outdoor rink. There is one in Union as well, the Union Sports Arena, but their public skating times aren't as accessible as the other two.

I haven't skated at any of them yet personally -- I skate quite a bit, but as I live in Jackson I hit the rinks nearer to here. I'm willing to drive up though!
Great! How does January 16th or 17th look for people? I propose the Bridgewater rink because, as nice as it can be to skate outdoors, being indoors would be much better if the weather isn't comfortable for skating. So, that rink's free skate times are:
Saturday: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM or 7:45 PM - 9:15 PM
Sunday: 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
I think it would also be fun to get a meal together before skating, either lunch or dinner. I know a good place nearby.
How does any of that sound?
That sounds like a lot of fun, I'd definitely be interested. Either day would work for me.

I have been looking to learn how to ice skate for a while now. Would this be something that a beginner would be able to attend? Anyone out there willing to teach someone how to skate?

By the way, Woodbridge Township also has an indoor skating rink at the Woodbridge Community Center (it's around the corner from the mall).

I can also do either day -- I'll be at the NJYP hike the morning of the 16th, but I can still do skating and whatever else that evening too. :)

I agree that the Bridgewater indoor rink is a better spot too.

I'll be celebrating my birthday Saturday night so I vote for either Saturday or Sunday afternoon. I'd be up for meeting for lunch if anyone else wants to get together.

sounds like Sunday afternoon, Jan, 17th from 2-3:30 works best for those who replied, so how about we aim for then? And lunch before, do you think 12:30 or 1 pm?
Beginners: I'm certainly all for having you come join us, I'm not so terribly advanced myself even though I've skated since I was a little kid. Most people can pick up the basics pretty quickly, I'm happy to try to teach but when I tried to show my husband, it didn't go so well. If anyone else thinks they can be a better teacher, speak up for Lena! Or, it seems the rink offers lessons during that time but you have to call the rink for details. The website is www.bsaarena.com.
Hey Deborah, sounds good. Do you have a place in mind for lunch? I don't know the area well enough to suggest anything.

Yep, there's a Maggiano's a little up 22 -- good Italian place, I know I can make a reservation, they're good for big groups if we end up being that, and they have their own parking. I'm open to other ideas though.

I don't know of any restaurants up in that area but this one looks good. I love Italian :-)
