Hi all,

Looking for some advice.  I recently became displaced when the company I was with became insolvent and had to eliminate everyone.  I'm temping now, but I guess I'm looking for advice on strategies to finding a job.  I feel like I apply on Indeed, LinkedIn, etc. and am not getting any feedback.

Did anyone do anything different or unique to find a good job?

Thanks!!!

Hi Andrew!

I went the route of working for myself! I know not everyone wants that but here is your best option. NETWORKING OFFLINE! You must step out to networking/social events? Sadly, 80% of new hires have found their new job from people they know and sometimes you do not even know them well. I regularly organize "career mixers" not in the North Jersey/NYC area but Philly to DC. Think happy hour meets a career fair, minus booths! If I hear of anything local to you, I will let you know. I know on Meetup, there are tons of networking/business groups.... attend events, get out there as much as you can. What industry/field do you want to work?

Thanks Jen.  Very informative.  I will definitely keep my eye out!
