NJYP is Looking for PAID Event Hosts!

NJYP is bigger and better than ever and thus desperately in need of some PAID Event Hosts! Yup… hosts will no longer be volunteers; instead they will be PAID contract workers (aka you will not be on payroll).

What you’ll be hosting:
Mostly Happy Hours! I’ll set up the events, confirm with the bar, etc. You just need to show up and host.

How to host (quick rundown of how hosting works):
• Arrive at 5:45pm and you can leave at 7:45.
• Let the door staff or the bar staff know you are there and that you are hosting.
• Hang the NJYP sign if you can. Print as many as you want.
• Station yourself as close to the door/entry point as possible. Greet NJYPers as they arrive and let them know who is with NJYP (aka everyone at the bar, that group over there, etc).
• Try to introduce newbies around.
• The hardest part is finding those that are there for the event but don't come up to you and try to sneak by you. Ask anyone who is under 40 if they are with NJYP (they almost always are).

Payment:
Get paid $25 post-event, via a check.
You will have one paid “training” event.

Who should apply:
Members who have attended events in the past and who LOVE LOVE LOVE to talk to strangers and meet new people.
Members who can commit to hosting at least 5 events per year.

How to apply:
Email Laura@njyp.org and let her know what counties you can host (you need to arrive by 5:45pm at the bars). Please only apply if you’ve attended events in the past 6 months.

Hi Laura,
I just read your blog about Host. During the school year I am a teacher so i know all about getting up in front of larger crowds especially Back to School Night.
I would love to try and host some events and greet people as they walk in. Please let me know if you are still looking for someone and I will help as best as I can. I love to set up and decorate for parties as well.

Hi Laura -
Even though I just joined, I'm very interested in hosting. I love to meet new people, and being a marketing guy, I find myself doing it all the time. Ocean and Monmouth counties would work best, let me know if you still have a need, and thanks for the consideration! Can't wait for my first NJYP event!
