I have an apartment in Wallington (walking distance to Garfield train station and less than 10 minutes to Rutherford). My 1 bedroom is $1040 and I know the 2 bedrooms are under $1500.  They allow pets without any problem, but there is no garage.  They have a HUGE parking lot, though, and I have never had trouble getting a space near my door.
