  This annual event raises awareness about relieving the plight of one of the nation's most historic waterways. The Passaic River Maritime Festival focuses on improving the river and reestablishing the historical waterway as a recreational destination.

  
  

  The Passaic River Maritime Festival's aim is to raise awareness of the need for improvement of the Passaic River after years of neglect, to organize and conduct riverbank cleanups in the community, to set a standard for the businesses and communities along the river, and to reestablish the Passaic River as a recreational destination.
