So I'm a recent college grad and I just moved to Princeton for work and don't really know anyone or the area. I've been looking to get involved in some activities on the weekends or late at night - clubs, special interest/dance groups, etc. but have no idea where to start. I work pretty long hours during the week so NJYP rarely has events in my area, esp. after 7/8 PM. Does anyone have any ideas for some cool events or things to do or how I can go about finding that info?

Hey Elina,
Week nights can be tough as I am on a similar schedule. NJYP's open social events (ie. happy hour, theme parties, etc) you can show up later. I typically don't get to happy hours till 7pm. Some people hang till around 11pm.

There was a group of people from NJYP I knew that played trivia in Priceton. Pretty sure it was 8 oclock-ish on Tuesday nights but can't remember where or if they are still going.

If you're on Facebook look me up. I have an invite out for Oct 3. A bunch of us are going to a fall wine festival that is always a great time!
JW
JW,

I'd be interested in trying the trivia night in Princeton. Do you have any more information on it?

Steve
Steven,
After thinking about it a little more I believe its at a place called the IVY INN but you'll have to give them a call to confirm and find out what night. Two other trivia nights I know about are Fox and Hound in Woodbridge (think Tuesday) and Houlihan's in Bridgewater on Wednesday.
JW, Thanks for the info. I will look into it.

NJYP...Has anyone been to the trivia night at the IVY INN before? How is it? Anyone else interested in giving it a try?

Steve
I have been to the IVY INN Trivia. It is on Tuesday nights starting at 8:00. The crowd is usually good. Most tables are filled with teams (who are all usually cheating with their phones!) It is a good time- depending on the MC, some weeks are better than others.

I think trivia used to be at Triumph Brewery on Nassau St as well. They might still be running that. I live down in the Princeton area and am usually looking for stuff to do as well. Unfortunately now, almost every waking moment of life at present is spent working or taking a ridiculous number of grad credits.

Meetup might be a good place to look for special interest clubs, there's a lot of groups around Princeton. Going to warn you in advance though that some of the groups are decidedly older, so there is a chance everyone might be 20+ years older than you.
Ah the empirical question of what to do in Princeton. You are like stuck in the middle between Philly and New York. I would avoid the meetup.com groups, they are an older crowd. In terms of "Princeton" itself, the Salt Creek Grille usually has different events and a good happy hour crowd. You are going to have to venture out of "Princeton" to have some fun around here. Alstarz and Katmandu are good night spots, you can also check out some of the local vineyards as they have wine tasting .etc.

We need to petition more NJYP events in Princeton, Mercer County. Why should all the people up North have the most fun?!
Also new to the Princeton area and a new member. Definately plan to check out trivia @ the Ivy inn - sounds fun! Curious to hear of any other happenings in the area - hasn't been as easy as I thought it would be to find some nightlife around here!
Elina,

just saw this discussion. I'll second JW's recommendation of trivia nights at the Houlihans in Bridgewater. Entry is free, there are drink/food specials, and nobody takes it too seriously.

If you're on FB, shout me up.
