So my best friend is looking to buy a townhouse in Monmouth County.  She works in Hazlet, and she'd like to have reasonable commute. These are her must haves:

-Prefer 2BR, but 1BR would be ok.

-Priced about $175,000 or less (preferably $150K-ish)

-safe neighborhood (safe enough for a single female to live by herself)

-close to highways, but not so close that she can hear the trucks all night long

-condo fee that isn't too outrageous ($250 or less, depending on amenties)

It would be great if some fellow young professionals could provide any recommendations on where she should look. Thanks!

Thanks for the recommendations Devin!  My husband and I live in a townhouse in Freehold too! We love it, such a nice downtown area, and it's close to just about everything. hopefully I can convince my friend to move here too!

There are actually townhouses/condos in Hazlet (Village Green), off of Beers St (behind the Home Depot).  They used to be around that price point...I'm not sure what they're going for now.
