I have recently decided that I need to get away and don't feel doing another New Years Eve hanging with all the married friends watching the ball drop on TV this year.  I am looking for travel ideas for a trip around New Years.  Thinking BIG like South America or Europe and will plan for at least 10-14 days since it will be the only vacation I took this year.  So any ideas of places that are fun, priced decent, have a night life and day activities.  Wouldn't even mind a few places that were near each other to bounce around a little bit.

I spent 10 days in Nicaragua this summer and it was VERY affordable.  There was decent nightlife in the more touristy areas, and lots of adventurous activities (like volcano boarding!).  I went to Peru a few years back, and everything there was also very cheap and there's some great clubs.  Italy and Israel are a bit pricier, but I loved both and can offer a few suggestions on cheap hostels.  Good luck planning!

I spent 2 weeks in Chile right outside of Santiago. Absolutely LOVED it!  I would go back in a heart beat.  The clubs are fun.  The beach is a little under 2 hrs away, but it's definitely worth it.  There's a lot of fun history and places to see there!

But check out Groupon and Living Social, they usually have some good deals for traveling escapes.  There was one for China, Italy, and even a Safari on there!

VEGAS!!!  I've never been but would be nice to have someone to go with.
Try a Contiki Holiday, they have trips to Europe for NYE.  I've been on 2 Contiki Holidays and had a great time.  www.contiki.com

Someone recommended this site to me. I was looking at them for a trip to Costa Rica. I believe they include air in their prices. If you're going away for 2 weeks what about New Zealand/Australia? I'm def going there within the next 3 years. You only live once.

I probably should have added that I used Gap Adventures for my trip to Peru.  Great company to travel with as well!

I second Contiki! They're amazing.

I've been to Vegas and New Orleans for New Yrs - both we're REALLY fun (so much so that I went to LV twice, and NO 4x just for New Yrs).  Even if you've been to Vegas, in general, New Yrs is a whole other experience bc they literally close the strip to cars, so you can walk down LV Blvd, which is a bit surreal.  I've always wanted to take a New Yrs cruise = another option to consider.  I haven't made it abroad for the holidays, but if you've got the time/money - the options above sound pretty amazing
