I just noticed you RSVP'd as a YES for next week's Brew and Chew but you still need a ticket. It's less expensive online (than at the door) and cost includes beer and pizza. Tickets - http://www.eventbrite.com/event/3950941372
This is about all that I have on it.. http://www.njyp.org/forum/topics/fun-hike-the-palisades-not?xg_source=activity If I do not hear back from this guy I am not going to go. Have some errands to run tomorrow anyway. The happy hour was pretty good. I could only stay for an hour but going to hit the one in NYC. That is going to be a lot of fun. You should come out to one of them!
Yeah, that is awesome! I have never hiked up there but I would love to. One of my "dream" hikes would be the 100 mile wilderness up in Maine. No towns, no nothing... Have to pack in all your food and water.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hundred-Mile_Wilderness But one day. I figure about 7-8 miles a day, I could do it in 12-13 days. How awesome would that be. I have heard some interesting things about Mt. Washington as well. I have heard of people getting stranded on the trail. I think that would be an awesome hike as well. You should check out some of the activities on here.
Check this out.. Not sure if you are interested. 'Fun Hike @ the Palisades (Not for beginners) -- FREE on Sat. 10/16' Also, you going to the HH on Wednesday?
You should definitely go! It is amazing up there. A bit of a drive but well worth it. I pretty much enjoy hiking anywhere. We have done the NJ, PA, VT, and NY parts of the Appilation trail. We did 110 miles of the Vermont Long Trail. We also backpacked 10 out of the 46 High peaks in NY. Also did a week in the Catskills. Would love to do some more. This is the perfect time. Not too hot and not too cold. Can make easy ground and time.
Lake Colden, It is up in the Adirondacks High Peaks. It is on the base of Mount Colden. We were backpacking and it took us about 2 days in to get there. Awesome time and it is a beautiful lake. Not accessible by car or any means. You have to hike in. I guess that is what keeps it soo pristine.
