New Jersey CPAs Offer Free Disaster Recovery Guide
Taking the Right Steps Immediately Makes a Difference
New Jersey residents and business owners affected by the recent storms and flooding face major challenges in recovering from their losses. The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA) has updated its Disaster Recovery Guide and, through its New Jersey CPA Help Center, is providing free financial and tax advice to crisis victims.
The Disaster Recovery Guide is designed to assist disaster victims with many of the details involved in the recovery process, including documenting losses for tax and insurance purposes, and replacing personal identification papers. The guide includes Internal Revenue Service (IRS) forms and publications for use in filing casualty loss claims, instructions for replacing personal documents, such as birth certificates, drivers licenses and Social Security cards, and tips on documenting damage and losses for insurance claims.
The Disaster Recovery Guide is available online at www.MoneyMattersNJ.com/recovery, or a printed copy can be requested by calling 973-226-4494, x246, or emailing communications@njscpa.org.
New Jersey residents experiencing a crisis also can obtain free financial and tax advice from a NJSCPA member through the New Jersey CPA Help Center. To request help, call 973-226-4494, or go to www.MoneyMattersNJ.com/help.
