History and hiking, huzzah! We will walk through a Pine Barrens ecosystem typical of the area, while seeing what remains of the Howell Works Company, an iron producing community established almost two centuries ago in the 1830’s. There may even be a chance to visit the functional period-correct bakery (supposed to open mid-February).  Afterward, the group will go for a late lunch and drinks...totally optional but always fun!

Member Cost:

$20 the day of and at the door

Non-Member Cost:
$20 online and at the door.

Tickets:
There are a limited number of tickets for sale. Tickets are not mailed, but your name will be kept at the door. All sales are final.

Length of the hike is about 3-4 miles long and we will walk at a moderate pace.
The hike should take about 2.5 hours.  
As with all hikes you must be in good, athletic shape.

Sweeper:
If the group size is large we are going to look for a volunteer to act as a sweeper. Sweepers will walk at the end of the hike line and will make sure the group stays together.

Hike Leader:
Maren will be leading this hike. She will make sure the hike starts on time so please arrive on time.

What to bring:
Water (required).
Hiking boots and bug spray recommended.
A light snack.

Heavy precipitation will cancel this hike; drizzle will not. Please check your inbox for updates and the NJYP.org calendar. Tickets will be refunded.
