Event Description

We need MANY volunteers for our YP Blood Drive! Please review the volunteer position descriptions below then click "Put Down a Deposit". You can volunteer AND donate blood. Please just pick a blood donation time that is NOT during your volunteer shift.

Deposits:
Because they are relying on us we are asking that all volunteers put down a FULLY REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT of $10.44. The $10.44 will be returned to all who attend the event. Cancellations will be accepted up until noon on the day before the volunteering event.

RSVP (to the right) and we will let you know when tix are almost gone, when prices are going up, if there are any changes, etc.

Schedule:
There will be 2 volunteer shifts. If you want to stay all night please sign up for both shifts by putting a deposit down twice.
Shift A 4:45 to 7:30pm
Shift B 7:15 to 10:15pm

What to wear:
Please try to wear a BLACK top so that you stand out as a volunteer. Everyone will also get nanme tags but wearing black will certainly help guests distinguish who you are.

TASKS

Greeters
Greeters will be the first point of contact for our guests. We need friendly personable people here who will welcome the guests as they arrive and direct them to where they need to go next. Greeters will also be creating name tags.

Registration Table
Those at registration will check people in and hand out the goodie bags.

Scheduler
The scheduler will work with the registration table and will notify those on the back-end regarding who has arrived. This person will have to walk back and forth between the two areas.

Glass Doors
These volunteers will re-welcome those that just donated back into the party room. They will thank them, check in with how they are feeling, answer questions, etc. You need to have outstanding customer service skills for this station.

Floater
This person will fill in any gaps we may have and when there are no gaps they will mingle in the Mocktail Room making sure that everything is going smoothly.

Canteen
Canteen volunteers are very important. Along with serving juice and cookies these volunteers are going to keep a close eye on donors right after they give blood. If there are any reactions, these volunteers have to be on their toes and get a nurse or a nurse manager ASAP. If someone doesn’t feel well a lot of the time they don’t tell you, so we have to use our judgment to say hey that girl looks pale, and go over and ask her if she is ok, even if she says yes, sometimes we have to say, you know what, you don’t look so great, why don’t you come and lay down.

If you're donating, be sure to get enough iron in your blood a day or so before. Eat some spinach, take a vitamin...they won't accept blood if you're below a certain level. (Definitely failed that before.)

I'll be there to donate.

I have never donated my own blood before. And I would of loved to volunteer my time to help. But I do apologize in advance for not being able to attend. My family got me Wicked Tickets in NYC the same night. I do hope the NJYP has a very successful evening.
