The 3rd of October might work or the weekend after! Where should we go?
Hey guys, if you plan the trip for Oct. 3rd, I'm definetly in. Let me know and I can research a couple of places in PA and NY as Kristin had mentioned.
I started doing some research, but I have a couple of questions before I continue. Any preference on how far anyone is willing to travel. That will narrow down the places to camp. I found two good sites that lists campgrounds in both NY and PA. Two that stood out was a place in the Lehigh River in PA. The cool thing about this one, and I'm just throwing it out there, is they have white water rafting. And what makes it even better is that on Oct 3 and 4, they will have a dam release which will make rafting a bit more exiting. Second place was in upstate NY, Lake Taghkanic State Park. You can camp right by the water and they have boat and kayak rentals on the lake. Again, this is just two that I picked out without knowing limit on distance. If you guys prefer something close in NJ, I would suggest Spruce Run in Clinton. Been there a couple of times and it's nice, running toilets and showers. Here are the links. Let me know what you think.

That sounds great. I usually go camping around there at least once a year and I know some spots. Would we go Friday and Saturday night? I am available both nights. I have a few friends from work who might also be interested.

John,

Would LOVE to do the dam release...wanted to do it again this summer, but couldn't find the time. I vote for PA, because they have some great camping spots. Plus the drive isn't that bad for most poeple. How many people could we get for something like this?

PA it is. We just need to figure out logistics. Kristin let me know the place(s) where you've camped before. I can call and find availability and cost. Other than that we need to know how many people, number of nights and whether everyone would be interested in rafting. Scott, let me know if it's just you or you also have people interested. Thanks
Here are two places that offer camping and rafting right on the premises. A riverfront site would be nice. I will go for two nights but it is close enough to go for one night. I will do either. I will let you know the number I have after some friends get back to me.
Thanks for helping out!

Absolutely. When are you thinking?

Guys, here is the info I gave Kristen. Let me know who is in and how many people.
OK, here is the deal. I think the best is to camp at Jim Thorpe Park, there is availability. We are looking at about $7.50/person/night. As far as the rafting goes, there are plenty of places. We are looking at $60/person. Most of these places also rent bikes and do paintballing. Also, if interested and depending on time, we could hit Bushkill Falls, which is supposed to be a really nice park as well. At this point we need to get a head count. I should know by this wkend how many people are interested on my side. If we are doing the rafting we are looking at having at least 6-8 people. Let me know what you think.

So I am in for leaving Friday after 4pm and my one friend is definitely going. Still working on two others. Rafting sounds great. Should we do that Saturday?
