Help an NJYP member - convince a company to "Hire Kevin Haughwout!"

Hey guys, I've got a quick favor to ask that will help me out greatly.

I've been trying to break into social media marketing for a while (case in point, all my posts about my Social Media Coffeehouse events), and I figure that running an actual campaign is my best bet at getting noticed and eventually hired by an awesome company.

I've set up a site at http://www.haughwoutworks.com (that's pronounced "how it works", by the way!)  Take a few minutes to visit the site.  If you'd like, you can check out the videos and see why I'm better off producing media than starring in it!  Most importantly, please pass word on to your friends and colleagues.  I made it really easy for you: I've got share buttons on the top right corner of the homepage for Facebook, Twitter, Digg, and Stumbleupon.

It'll only take you 30 seconds or so to share the page with your social network, and that might just be what I need to get a job.  You may not be hiring, and you may not know someone who's hiring, but I bet you know someone who knows someone who knows someone who's hiring!  That's why I need word of this site to spread!

Let me know if you've got any questions.  Thanks so much, guys!

Hoping innovation works: Marketer goes viral to get a job
Hey congrats on the recognition! I'm an E-Marketing Specialist and while my niche is Graphic Design, a huge chunk of my job is social media management. I'd be happy to help with any questions you may have. While I'm no expert, I could def. rec. some great people to follow on Twitter who are leaders in this field - you could learn a lot from them just by following their feeds. Do you know SEO & SEM? Best of luck!! You're hard work will pay off - when you are as passionate as you seem to be - it'll pay off, you'll land that dream job of yours. :) Are you familiar with the other E-Channels aside from Facebook, YT & Twitter?

"What employers want that he does not have is demonstrable experience in social media, he said."

That means you just haven't found the right employer yet - OWN your personal sites. You have the blog, Twitter and Facebook - build up your following. Do to your pages what you'd like to do for a company's - OWN your pages and you have the experience. Know what a Facebook fan is worth - learn the analytics. Sure you Tweet, blog, Facebook - how are you measuring your results? While ROI on Social Media is still hard to measure - marketers want to know the numbers. What are your numbers on RTs? How are you building relationships via social media? Who is your target audience? What message are you trying to get across?

Worse comes to worse - get in touch with a non profit. Tell them you'd like to help them expand through social media. See if you can manage their social media... this can be a long process. Any one who knows anything about social media, knows the numbers don't roll in over night (unless you're Lady Gaga or someone)

I can go on forever. Let me know if you have any questions you think I may be able to answer. :)

P.S - I did not proof read this. Sorry for any errors!
