Hi Everyone,

I know I have spoken with a few people who ski/snowboard.  Anyone interested in a day trip or w'end getaway - in Jan or Feb?   For the day, I typically head up to Camelback, or Shawnee.  I have been to Killington (VT) but I'm hesitant to go back.  I still consider myself a fairly novice snowboarder, so Killington was a bit expensive for someone of my skill level.

That said, I am open to all input, ideas, suggestions and/or help in planning.

Hi Estephany and Jennifer,

Welcome. You are not 'late' - this is basically an ongoing discussion.  People have been posting day trips here and/or in the forum.  We've had all skill levels respond.  If you think you need, or would like to take a lesson, it may be a good idea to buddy up and plan a trip for the same day.   Otherwise, just keep an eye on the discussion/forum and see when ppl are planning to go.

gonna get a lot of fresh powder this week I hear anyone up to hit a mountain this weekend?  Up for any suggestions on mountain choices.
I'd be up for something on Sunday.

Sundays at Shawnee from three pm to close, they have family/friend night in which you bring one of the discounts and you get fifty percent off everything... it comes out to like thirty or thirty five with with everything
That sounds great!

I am in Seracuse for work (got my board with me) but could meet at Hunter or Windham
like next weekend. Very good snow up this way.

I have gone skiing three times ever...so I have no idea about one mountain vs. another.  Anywhere within a 1 -2 hour-ish drive of North Jersey would be good.

Hi Holly,

Any dates set for the weekend or day ski trip?

Eric

Hi Eric,

To be honest, the few times I have done snowboarding w'ends, my friends secured the house(s).  I've tried to look around, but perhaps I am not looking at the right resources??  Therefore, I am open to any help, suggestions, ideas...    As for day trips - ppl have been posting here, and in the forum.  I'd like to get some in, but my Saturdays are shot for a few more weeks.  This Sat is supposed to be a nice day - John said he was going to Camelback (see above).  Otherwise, I've just been watching the weather and hoping for a break from the extreme cold.

Hey Holly, try Homeaway.com, great resource to start with, I have set up a few trips, and that site I have used.

As for all, I will be going to Blue Mountain on sunday 4pm to close, for beginners they have a great beginnner slope with its own lift serving it, for advanced shredders, its arguably the best advanced terrain in the area.

Funny, it looks like we have  3 different people going to three different places this weekend:  Camelback, Blue Mountain, and for me, either Windham or Hunter Mountain.  For those of you who don't snowboard or ski very often, Camelback and Blue Mountain are about 1 1/2 hr away from New Brunswick and where I'm going is like 4 hrs away in central New York.  I would like to meet up with you guys when I'm back in NJ.

P.S. - Break from the extreme cold?  This weather is awesome!!

I wouldnt mind camelback, I havent been there in two years...

And Nathan, Im with you, I was skiing sunday night, 10 degrees warm baby! Just put another layer, you'll be alright!!! haha
