union on a saturday night?

hi, i just moved to union from essex county a couple months ago. was used to going out in morristown. looking to try and go out around here though. i'm not used to covers, so i'd like to avoid that. just want a cool bar for drinks and hanging out? ideas???? rahway, kenilworth, cranford, union?

Hey Ines, I live in Middlesex County now, but I used to live in Cranford. Places that I know of are The Office, Kilkenny House (never been there), Blackthorn, & then there's a lot more if you're interested in the Woodbridge area, but not sure if you're into that. I'm not really into the whole cover thing either. I've been to Blackthorn and it was a $5 cover once, but that's not too bad. Anyway, hope that helps!

the office is okay. i've been. i'll try killkenny . how far is woodbridge? blackthorn was cool but they have a cover and that's dumb :( lol but maybe i'll have to give in. last time i went there was this crazy dj haha so i hop ehtat's not a regular thing because he was really peculiar

Hey there Ines.

Depends where you live - but you got a few choices. Destino's in Elizabeth's Elmora section is a funky vibe, Dolce's in midtown is a cool spot that is pretty big and good for outdoors in the spring/summer.

Cranford has The Office if you are into bar/pubs. Union has Mood - but it is kinda so so. Rahway has a few restaurants that double as spots, but I admit I am not up to speed. I think Cubanu is one of them.

Kenilworth: BLACKTHORN in the warmer months. Maybe saturdays - always Thursdays.

Hope it helps. If you ever get bored, you can always go back to Newark's Arena Lounge. I'll be there hosting away lol.

I know this is a little bit more of a drive, but still bearable, the shannon rose in woodbridge is relaxed, has a cover band on saturday, there's never a cover and drinks are cheap. Their food is good too.

I also favor arena. I've been a patron for many years. lol.
