How we can get the word out and get more votes...

I would love to do an email blast but I don't know how or where to even begin?

Any suggestions or tips are appreciated!

Thanks!

I think people are really tired of voting in online type contests. The last time I did it for a friend I was hit with so much spam I dumped the email address.

What does everyone else think?
I was actually asking for marketing suggestions; not your opinion.

Thanks anyway!

I agree with Laura...however, why not create your own website to generate interest? Why not use facebook/twitter to spread the word about the contest and direct people to such a website (if you create one). Why not create a raffle and tell your friends/family that just for voting, they have a chance to enter in for a drawing for a prize? That might really create interest/provide an incentive to vote for you as long as it's a good prize (coupons to local restaurants, gift cards, etc).

As for your response to Laura...I think she was offering an explanation for why emailing people might not be a good idea and why you might want to consider alternatives (see the above).
Benita,

Thanks so much; these are great ideas!

Well, it may be good to know why most people are not voting before you put energy into it. Your time and resources might be better spent on raising money for your wedding or gathering tips on how to save on wedding planning.
Thank you and I appreciate your honesty, but I'm not banking my wedding on this contest... I mean of course it would be wonderful! However, I'm also realistic and I also think there is nothing wrong with giving things a try and just having fun. Overall I have had a good response, but I have never done this before so I was just looking for some ideas.

Thanks for the feedback ladies.
