New to NJ! Insert witty headline so you'll read this post here...

Sooo umm hi everyone <awkward wave>, lol.  I'm brand new - as in Memorial Day weekend - to New Jersey, and hoping to meet some people here.  I moved up here for my job and know absolutely nobody and hoping to change that!  Would love to meet up for happy hours, beach days, road trips, events, whatever.  I live in Fort Lee (temporarily... yay corporate housing) and work in Englewood, but I have a fast car that I secretely enjoy flooring when I merge ontro rt. 4. Really looking to meet new people anywhere and everywhere... don't be shy :)

Hi Kris,

Welcome to Jersey! I live in Rutherford (Bergen County), so maybe I'll see you around at some events! I've made a lot of good friends through NJYP so I'm sure you will too :)
Kris.

I moved back from Florida about 10 years ago. But, I grew up in Deltona Florida..Used to cut class to go to Daytona Beach when I was a kid...And used to love Downtown Orlando...If you remember the Winter Park Supper Club..I went to see Rob Thomas there..I went to UCF and Stetson.

Fort Lee is a nice area...Very different type of city living than Orlando...But, you are straight shot for Manhattan...Its different world isn't it. Orlando is such a new city in comparison to NYC that it has a much cleaner appearance.

Well, drop me a line back. And I have sent a friend request to you.

Michele
Hello, what do you do for work?
You should attend the event Betting on a Cure this thursday. It's going to be a great night out and a chance to meet some of the NJYP : )

You can get your ticket at www.bettingonacure.org
Deltona? That's actually where I lived the last year and a half! Small world! Definitely much different here, but I think NJ will grow on me. I've already been told by a few people here I have a southern accent, lol, I don't really think so but I suppose I'm a little biased :)

I manage a team of technology/IT sales reps for a Fortune 100 company throughout the country. Their job is to sell more computers, IT services, technology related products to small businesses, train our account reps and biz development reps, etc. My job is to... make sure they do theirs, haha. Definitely looking forward to getting out and meeting some people! I'm still learning to navigate this site... anything going on in Bergen County anytime soon? I'm always down for anything... especially a baseball game or happy hour!

Welcome to Jersey. I was in exactly same boat as you(sort of still in that boat), I moved out here for a job in February from Los Angeles.
Welcome. I moved here from Minnesota for work in Feb, just got an apartment in May, and joined this group a couple weeks ago. So you are in good company.
Hi Kris,

(Belated) welcome! Wish I had seen this earlier in the summer - there's a ton of fun stuff in the tri state area, just depends what you like to do? The forum is a good place to check - to see who is posting activities you like, or you can (obviously) post something of interest. I've grown up in NJ, and have been able to explore quite a bit - so feel free to send me an email, or ask any questions : )

Kristina - where in Vegas did you live? My mom has been out there since '02, and I lived out there for a year... I don't know how NYC got the 'city that never sleeps' title, when Vegas is literally 24/7?

Hi, Kris. Welcome to a fast paced atmosphere with less humidity than FL! :) I moved here in March from Vegas, and this is a bit of culture shock. If you want to check out the Hoboken area (about 20 minutes from Fort Lee--perhaps 15 if you are truly on a mission) for happy hour, look me up. I am checking out the NYC sites (I swear I will hit Central Park some time soon) and would be happy to be lost with another newbie.

Take care,
Kris
Hey Kris,

There is actually another person here, Cody that also moved up from Orlando for his job. I believe he is in IT too!
Hey Kris, welcome!

Have you ventured down to the shore yet? Point Pleasant or Ocean County at all? I'm 20 minutes to the beach, bars, and clubs. Any interest, just let me know! :-)
