Event Description

Are you ready to be blown away? The Mount Tammany Hike is one of the most famous in all of New Jersey. The views are some of the most spectacular in the state and at one point there is even a 1300 foot drop off to the Delaware River below! The hike starts off at around 200 ft above sea level and climb to 1527ft above all in about 2 miles! The terrain is very rocky so ankle support is important. Along the hike you will find beautiful streams, quaint waterfalls, and an abundance of unique foliage. So, if you are in good physical shape and are ready for a challenge, join us!

Specs:
The hike is classified as strenuous and is about 3.5 miles long.
The hike should take 3-4 hours.
This is not a hike for "first timers". You must be in good, athletic shape.
Group will stop to eat lunch along the trail. BYOLunch.

RSVP (to the right) and we will let you know when tix are almost gone, when prices are going up, if there are any changes, etc.

Member Cost:

$20 online and at the door

Tickets:

Actual hike is subject to change depending on weather conditions, fallen trees, etc.
All sales are final.

Sweeper:
If the group is large we are going to look for 2 volunteers to act as sweepers. Sweepers will walk at the end of the hike line and will make sure the group stays together.

Hike Leader:
Noah will be leading this hike. It is one of his favorites!

What to bring:
Hiking boots and water (both required).
Snacks, a lunch, layers of clothing, etc.
Toilet paper, tissues, plastic bags for garbage, etc.
Do NOT wear sneakers.

Inclement Weather:
Precipitation might cancel this hike but we often walk in light rain. Please check your inbox for updates and the NJYP.org calendar. Tickets will be refunded.

Directions:
Take Interstate Route 80 west towards the Delaware Water Gap. Immediately beyond milepost 1, take the exit for the "picnic area" and bear left at the fork. Continue past the underpass to the left and turn right into a parking area at a sign for "Dunnfield Creek Natural Area." (If you miss the exit from Route 80, take Exit 1, turn left at the end of the ramp, and continue on the service road parallel to Route 80 past the visitor center. Turn left at the underpass, go under Route 80, turn left again, and turn right at the "Dunnfield Creek Natural Area" sign.

It is almost impossible to use an online mapping system as there is no street address for the Dunnfield Creek Natural Area. The park is right outside of Columbia NJ, off route 80 (past exit 4 but before exit 1).

Here is the actual Mount Tammany hike with directions.

Know that this hike is ON, even if it raining in the AM. The day is totally going to dry out so we'll be fine. Enjoy! Laura

I'll be climbing Mt. Tammany that day also, but we will be going on a slightly longer overall hike. Maybe I'll see you at the top!

I hope you guys will join me in scaling Mt. Tammany this fall! This hike has been my favorite for several years now! Our climb to the top will be steep, but extremely rewarding. Be sure to bring your cameras to capture the second highest point in NJ! The fall foiliage will provide some glorious views of the NJ/PA surroundings and as always, after the hike all are welcome to will travel 5 minutes across state lines to this quaint little country bakery where they have the "recession special": $1.50 hot dog and slice of apple pie!
