Help an NJYP member - convince a company to "Hire Kevin Haughwout!"

Hey guys, I've got a quick favor to ask that will help me out greatly.

I've been trying to break into social media marketing for a while (case in point, all my posts about my Social Media Coffeehouse events), and I figure that running an actual campaign is my best bet at getting noticed and eventually hired by an awesome company.

I've set up a site at http://www.haughwoutworks.com (that's pronounced "how it works", by the way!)  Take a few minutes to visit the site.  If you'd like, you can check out the videos and see why I'm better off producing media than starring in it!  Most importantly, please pass word on to your friends and colleagues.  I made it really easy for you: I've got share buttons on the top right corner of the homepage for Facebook, Twitter, Digg, and Stumbleupon.

It'll only take you 30 seconds or so to share the page with your social network, and that might just be what I need to get a job.  You may not be hiring, and you may not know someone who's hiring, but I bet you know someone who knows someone who knows someone who's hiring!  That's why I need word of this site to spread!

Let me know if you've got any questions.  Thanks so much, guys!

Wish I'd known about this sooner! I'd have totally done a free headshot for you last week when I was at Launchpad Creatives doing social media headshots and profile images to help get word out!
Elizabeth, to the Wayback Machine! :)

Hi Kev,

The site is great -- I've just shared it with the marketing director at my firm. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the hard work that you've put into this campaign; however, if I could offer two quick bits of friendly advice:

1. First, I'd suggest that you also meet with a corporate recruiter to ensure that you are also capturing hiring managers who use more conventional staffing tools. We just hired a social media marketer in our London headquarters who was referred by a staffing agency. I just finished reading "Crush It," I believe in your cause, but I also believe that a multi-pronged approach might yield the best results.

2. Next, your discussion of social media tools is a bit didactic, or academic for lack of a better word. Focus greater attention on how market segmentation can benefit your target audience vis-a-vis increased brand equity (and revenue!) Its less about you than about what you can do for them.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and try to help out in any way possible.

Thanks for the feedback man! Both are excellent points! I'd love to grab a drink and pick your brain sometime.

Just heard about and added a new job lead on the marketing discussion forum. Not sure if it's right for you or not.
Just saw this post on Face book from the Morristown Community Theatre. Please send your resume and cover letter to klemery@mayoarts.org. I know them, so let me know and I'll put in a good word for you.

Kevin,

I think this is great! I just friended my company's recruiter on FB and posted your link simultaneously... If enough people do this, magic is bound to happen!

Best of luck!
